Do You Need A Ticagrelor?

Ticagrelor is a drug that is used in combination with low-dose aspirin to help prevent heart attacks and strokes in persons who have had a heart attack or stroke in the past or who are at a higher risk for heart disease or stroke (for example, due to diabetes, history of transient ischemic attack-TIA). It may also help to avoid blood clots following certain types of heart surgery (such as stent placement). Ticagrelor acts by preventing platelets from adhering together and producing dangerous clots. It's an antiplatelet medication. It keeps your blood flowing freely throughout your body.

How to use Ticagrelor Tablet?

Before you start taking ticagrelor, and every time you get a refill, read the Medication Guide issued by your pharmacist. Any concerns you may have should be discussed with your doctor or pharmacist.

Take this medication by mouth, with or without food, twice daily, as advised by your doctor. The dosage and duration of medication are determined by your medical condition and treatment response. As advised by your doctor, take a low-dose aspirin once a day (typically 75-100 mg). Follow your doctor's instructions to the letter. Also, see the section on Warnings.

You can smash the ticagrelor tablet if you have difficulties swallowing it. In a glass, combine the crushed tablet with the water and drink immediately. To make sure you get your full dose, refill the glass with water, swirl, and drink.

To receive the best benefit from this drug, take it on a daily basis. Take it at the same times every day to help you remember.

Do not take this medication in higher doses or for longer than recommended. Your condition will not improve any faster, and you will be more susceptible to negative effects.

Even if you feel OK, keep taking this medication. Do not stop using this drug without first visiting your doctor. You may have an increased risk of heart attack or stroke if you stop using this medicine too soon.
